Ode to Afghanistan

Posted on 13 October 2009 by Baco

Who in the heck do I think I am? Giving the President advice on Afghanistan. I’m a former soldier, a husband, a father and a lab tech, but I’m not on the front lines freezing living in a tent. Afghanistan in winter is not easy duty. Extended behind enemy lines exposes how much American booty? What goals can be achieved if all we see is snow? Will there ever be a perfect time to find the courage for us to go? Why put 40 thousand more troops into this harsh winter wonderland? It won’t save America or kill all the Taliban. I say, “Pull back President Obama.” This is Afghanistan. Why not use the pilotless drones to learn all that we can?

In summary, during the winter it becomes a war against the elements for both sides. Let’s find out where the enemy hides and strike them if we must? Daring them to challenge us in the elements is a foolish strategy. Nothing is accomplished and it provides a false sense of security. Putting 40K more troops in the ice and snow is a level of stupidity only offered by “The GOP.” You won the Nobel Prize for “Inspiring Us to Change.” Will you find the courage to change strategy? If not now…when?

English Defence League and the War Against Islam Extremist

Posted on 17 September 2009 by ndurda

England is seen as a country of fish and chips and the high life of London. Financial skyscrapers tower over the country as the icons of the country. But there is a darker side to this country. England is use to the years of civil wars and political hatred. When an Englishmen doesn’t agree with something he takes matters into his own hands, such as Oliver Cromwell did in the 1600s to over throw the monarch. The similarly of Cromwell in todays England may be a hard connect to make but the passion is still there.

The English Defence League, is a group of Englishmen who are sick of seeing Muslims in there neighborhoods. Echos of 1800s and early 1900s America in regards to African Americans. Its human nature to fear that which you don’t understand. That is exactly what is going on in England with Muslims, but with good reason. Islamic extremist are standing on the streets shouting anti-British protest, that scares and threatens the public. The EDL is trying to keep the streets clean and safe. Stepping in were the police are not, but they become targets of the police themselves. It is a lose-lose situation from these men.

Though they don’t work the British people and just target Islam extremist they are sticking fear within the police and the general public, mostly because their background is unknown. They cause riots and lead attacks against the extremist the could damage to the cities, though that is not their goal.

I guess you can compare them to the KKK in the sense that they are against a group of people and go to extreme measures to drive them out and stick fear in them. But unlike the KKK the EDL is only concerned with the extremist, they do not care about everyday normal Muslim people living in England. Not much write up is on this group that seems to be gaining power and popularity in England. But it will be interesting to what happens next.

Shame on Canada!

Alright folks I was watching a story about asbestos sales on CBC The National tonight. Now this story was originally aired on June 10th, 09. But this is my first time seeing it and I was appalled! Positively appalled!

Canada a developed country is still exporting dangerous asbestos to a number of countries. India, is now our biggest buyer covering a little over 50% of our exports. I wish I knew who the other countries were that are buying our asbestos.

For those of you who do not know what the asbestos mineral is you should do some research. It was once thought of as Canadian gold. But soon by the 70s – mid 70s we discovered it was extremely dangerous to our health. It can cause lung cancer among other diseases. And it is a death warrant if you get any of the diseases it may cause especially asbestosis and mesothelioma.

Our federal government as well as the government of Quebec and the company mining asbestos are simply merchants of death. They truly are merchants of death. Selling a product that will kill the employees who work with it in India and anyone who comes in contact with its dust particles. Where India is so compacted into small ghettos. The dust particles can spread very rapidly amongst the people and make many sick and many will die!

This must stop we are smarter then this. How can we as a country ban asbestos use in our own country and yet promote countries to buy it from us because it isn’t as big of a threat as we once thought. Which is absolutely bogus! It is just as dangerous as we ever thought it was IF NOT MORE! This is the pinacle of hypocrisy on the Canadian governments part!

The blood is on Canada’s hand, the blood soaks into the cloth of Canada’s flag. The blood is on the hands of those in government. The blood is on the hands of the companies who mine it and export it. The blood is on all Canadians hands for letting this go on!

Lets wash the blood off of our hands and stop this mass genocide. Genocide for profit is no profit at all. Human life is much more valuable then money.

Here is the link to the CBC report you should watch this friends.

Militias of Bakassi claimed on Friday the kidnapping of ten persons on board of a boat of the Company Bourbon off Cameroon and threatened to kill them if their demands were not satisfied. Contacted by telephone since Libreville, a “Corporal” of the movement asserted twice to AFP: “10 are between our hands. He then hung up. “I personally led the attack in the course of which we kidnapped ten men whom we detain while I speak to you “, declared the colonel Ebi Dari, the leader of the Security Council and the defence of the delta of Niger. “If the Cameroonian government does not answer our demands within three days, we shall begin to kill them one by one “, added Dari. He clarified that the attack had been launched together with a group named the Fighters for the freedom of Bakassi (BFF).
The Bourbon Company indeed confirmed the kidnapping at night from Thursday till Friday by pirates in Cameroonian territorial waters off Bakassi (border of Nigeria). It is about ten crew members of a ship of the French group Bourbon operating on an oil terminal. Six of them are French, clarified Bourbon in a communiqué, having mentioned seven French nationals originally. Four other hostages are two Cameroonians, a Tunisian and a Senegalese.

Another place, Another time

Posted on 10 October 2008 by Amber Hollas

Waking up every morning to see you child in his or her crib, warm, fed and clean must put a smile on your face. Waking up to see your baby cold, hungry and sick is what mothers in developing countries see everyday. There is nothing they can do to help them but sit back and watch there new born child starve to death or die from some sort of disease. This is where we come in. There are thousands of charitys around the world that you can donate some spare time or money you may have. Its not a worthless effort and you may actually just be saving a life. Things we take for granted such as a toilet or a bed, peolpe in these conditions would cheerish for as long as they lived. If you walk along the street just outside your house you would see street lights, neighbours and children playing, in ethiopia you would see children on the side of the street starving or even dead.

UN: Inept or Productive…?

Posted on 13 August 2008 by jwmacdon

The United Nations was undoubtedly established with the intention of preserving humanitarian rights and providing economic development, educational development, etc. to those nations lacking in the areas above. What I want to focus on, though, are the humanitarian rights. The absence of those rights makes the bettering of the latter difficult to accomplish.

Now, I am sure all of those reading this article have heard of the numerous genocides that have been perpetrated throughout the decades. Where was the UN during these atrocities? Where was the UN during the murdering and mutilating of men, women, and children?

In Cambodia, a ruthless communist leader went on a murderous rampage. His name was Pol Pot, and he used the Khmer Rouge, an armed guerrilla group, to murder approximately 2 million people between the years of 1975 and 1979. Where was the UN during this time?

Years later came the Bosnian conflict from 1992 to 1995. More than 200,000 Muslims were murdered by Serbian death squads. As the heartbroken family members wallowed in sorrow, anger, and despair the UN was nowhere to be found.

In 1994, during the end of the Bosnian conflict, Rwanda was host of the newest, and some say the worst genocide of the 20th century. Approximately 800,000 minority Tutsi were savagely murdered by the majority Hutu. Even with a UN peace-keeping force, Rwanda was destined to end in tragedy. Members of the UN Security Council denied the peace-keeping force additional troops or adequate supplies to thwart the attack by the Hutu extremists. Again, where was the UN?

After the genocides in Rwanda and Bosnia the international community stated that mass genocide would never happen again. They were wrong! What about the current genocide in Darfur, which began in 2003 and did not come to a “slow-down” until 2007. Over 400,000 Christian Sudanese have been murdered by the government which is predominately Muslim. It was not until 2004 that talks of the conflict reached the UN, and it was not until 2007 that indictments were brought against those who perpetrated the killings by International Criminal Court. Yes, the UN did take action, but it took 4 years for anything to happen. By that time hundreds-of-thousands of people had been killed. Furthermore, the only reason that the UN took any form of action was caused by the public outcry and the public attention that Darfur received. Without the public concern Darfur would have been swept under the carpet, and no investigative action would have been taken.

If the UN is obviously incapable of maintaining peace and preserving people’s humanitarian rights, then why should the UN be the organization that “assists” nations with economic, education, and health issues?

HE EXCISES HER DAUGHTER AND KILLS HER

Posted on 01 July 2008 by Mua Mbango

They less and less spoke about this practice in Cameroon these last decades, at least officially. But it is under her the vilest form that it re-emerges. For a good many of Cameroonian, removal is not any more played in the country since many years. For them, it would be the prerogative of the Western Africa. So much it is true that this practice was especially signaled in the northern region of the country for numerous and heterogeneous popular motivations. But a lot of cases are to mention in the country today that it would be necessary to link them rather to the practices of “sexual mutilations”. The 16th of May 2007 of this year, an Officer in the Cameroonian police, without consulting his spouse in anticipation called Djeubou Veronique, decides for reasons which he is alone to justify in excise his small daughter called Ndeuga Nguegoue Pamela. It will drive the baby in a secret held place where this last very probably took date is with a nurse or then with his guru. They will inflict to his daughter of suffering that they would classify if one there a mutilation of type 3 or 4 is fond of the precision of the WHO. Back in the home, the baby, very covered with blood will be driven to the hospital or she will yield some time afterwards. His very thrown into a panic mum, will lodge a complaint in the police later. Unfortunately, this one was fruitless because any inquiry carried out diligently by the police or the police station with this effect has never known in succession and, the mother since knows serious threats of death on behalf of her spouse who once already wanted while this last was in a sleep deep attempt in his life. This situation raises a voile on practices of traffic of organs determined in our country these last years because the definite case of this officer would not know how to be linked to a traditional practice, not being part of this culture of the country. According to evidence were gathered, it would have entered a secret organization where also appear expatriates. Similar cases are signaled across the country where again and again certain expatriates linked to the national were taken in the act transporting cargoes of genital parties belonging to the men and women slaughtered a while before; two cases signaled in the small locality of Lolodorf among whom an old woman found by the Mayor himself and a young man about eighteen years, several others in the only city of Douala. The inquiries of police either of the police stations have never succeeded or is purely transformed into occult sciences or nobody has the right to dispel the illusions the truth. According to trustworthy sources, in central Africa, it is near nominations in the public administrations where this practice more makes speak about her. In the past, there were cultural arguments and / or traditional as well for the young man as for the girl: it was according to those who played it a ritual of introduction to pour passage of child’s state (small girl or small boy) in that of adult. For the woman, there are aesthetic and hygienic arguments also, the clitoris being received as smelling poor and ugly. From religious point of view, certain country, excise in the name of Islam, however, removal is in no way an Islamic practice (not in the Koran, or any other religious reference text; numerous Muslim countries in the Medium East play nor know this practice) and this practice has already existed before the arrival of Islam there Sub-Saharan Africa. Other arguments are moral and reproductive: the preservation of virginity before marriage and fidelity then (control its wish) and that the clitoris would prevent reproduction (he could hurt the infant during delivery or the husband during intercourse). It is important to note that whatever is form and that honored reasons which push us in of such gone about things, these vile practices should be exiles by our States because they remain very hard of consequences depending in effect on the strictness of practice and on what was affected.
