We Can...So What's Next?

President Barack Obama has repeatedly thanked "The Little People" for their collective contributions in the process that got him elected, but he also slammed the White House doors on anyone who has a "Petty Grievance" or did a "Childish Thing." What exactly is a "Little Person" and how much does one have to contribute to victory before they can be big? What if our collective contributions are too big to be credited? Are we a "Little Person" if we gave the Democrats the "Winning Slogan" in "We Can?" I know the truth, so I don't consider myself little or petty at all. Where do "We" go from here?

"We Can" was just the first of three phases in a political roadmap to victory. We saw the impact of having a message of hope that unified the Party and electrified crowds nationwide. The excitement and energy has worn off. What's the next phase? It's simple-"We Did." Democrats control every aspect of the Government. It's time for accountability. America is looking at what we did trying to determine if we are worthy of leadership. In New Jersey, Gov. Corzine had no record of accomplishment. In Virginia, Democrats tried to be "Republican-lite" and lose-"We Did."

In hindsight, we can sling insults and share blame; but that's a childish thing. How do we go forward? We can only go forward now that we have embarked on this path. What we do matters more than what we say "We Can." We must focus on a proud record of success and be held accountable. Democrats cannot split the Party into "Blue Dogs, Progressives, Yellow Dogs, The Black Caucaus, The Left, and Moderates." Unity was the key to victory and "We Can" win over and over based on what "We Did." We cannot continue to blame the previous administration for the choices we make as we lead. We cannot do bad things and expect to be re-elected. We must be held accountable for what we do. A bad bill on Healthcare and abandoning Gay rights would be fatal mistakes.

I will not rehash the Obama failures or be critical of the process now because criticism will not force open the White House doors. I will offer these words and my works only to speak truth to power. "We Can" proved to be the "Winning Message." "We Did" is where we are politically. Yes, we are being held accountable for our leadership and our vision of the future. What comes next? "We Do." We do care about equality, women, and fairness. Democrats proved we are the Party of Inclusion. That moniker always wins elections if it is proven by our actions. We must be held accountable for the things "We Did." We were in New Jersey and Virginia and we lost.

What's next? I hear snipes and laughter on MSNBC about "We Did" watching Luke Russert with boogers in his nose. We hear rumors of "Quid Pro Quos" concerning Sen. Arlen Specter and Bill Clinton as the recycled players try to rehash impeachment and repay the old favors? We see Gov. Blago left behind for almost the same exact thing as the Obama administration twists and squirms it's way out of a full investigation? We Did nothing and nothing changed. Well, Don't Ask Don't Tell is moving slowly. America can't say Democrats did nothing. We must evaluate if following the Bush agenda is right or wrong? We threw Bush out and "No, We Don't Miss You Now!"

I'm crying for Sen. Arlen Specter because he was "Not Proven" to be a Democrat and his case was dismissed today by the voters of Pennsylvania. I'm crying because he was abandoned and no one deserves to be thrown under the bus like this. You can't change buses and expect to drive the new one. Arlen was sent to the "Back of the Bus." Democrats need to redefine the "We" in "We Can." It seems to be reserved for "Harvard Only." Elana Kagan could be next. An anti-military Supreme Court nomination could get "Borked."

I think Democrats are coming to the realization that we are our worst nightmare in governing. A divided party stands for little or nothing. It accomplishes even less. With an electorate standing around with pitchforks and torches, it's not a good strategy to point fingers or hide behind "The Party of Nope." Democrats must unite and lead America to a vision the angry mob wants. We want healthcare reform and we know the difference between healthcare and insurance. A bad bill that pays off insurance companies for doing nothing is like putting on cement shoes in politics. The wrong thing would hand the other side a total victory, but let's not forget who we are dealing with here. The Conservatives are just not credible on anything. If the Democrats do anything good for America it's a landslide. Why are Democrats blowing it? Divided loyalties make it hard for some of them to choose. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

So What's Next? Are we going "Back to the Future?" President Clinton rides in to rescue a bad health Insurance bill or is there another motive afoot? If Obama fails it helps "Hillary." Bill Clinton pushing Democrats into a fatal political mistake helps "Hillary." President Obama hasn't actually weighed in on the subject. He can open the White House, buy a few cases of beer, and have all the players over for a fresh garden salad. Obama can throw both sides under the bus and the Clinton loyalists. We tried Hillary Care years ago and now Obama's failure could be the springboard back to the Clinton past? In Arkansas, didn't Bill have a long history of support for HCA? Nothing changed. Keep your friends close and your political enemies closer so you can see them coming. This bill is crap and I think Bill knows it. If this was Rush Limbaugh we'd all be up in arms.

In the words of Eminem, "I am whatever I say I am." The media can prove or disprove my claims; but they might be true. If President Obama controls the media, do you think anyone will risk their White House Christmas Card to prove I'm right? The evidence is out there but there's a thing called "Plausible Deniability" that protects the players. The truth always comes out.
