Oops she did it again! Who knew that Britney Spears could come out swinging from her year long vow of musical silence with such a complex and vivacious album as Circus.
It’s been over a year since she graced the world with her last album, Black Out, and I can tell you that she is clawing her way back to the top of the pop charts with songs such as Womanizer and self titled Circus.
It’s hard not to drive anywhere these days without hearing the catchy Womanizer beat blasting from some car stereo. With a one worded chorus, it seems Britney has captured the ears of the world with simplicity.
Although Womanizer came out with such a splash that it seemed nothing could follow in its wake, the second song on the album, Circus, will be Britney’s next big hit. With witty one-liners and a hip-hop hybrid mixed with Trance-like tempo, this song is quickly going to surface as her second hit single.
Britney surprised this critic with the inclusion of such songs as, My Baby and Out From Under. These two tracks stray from her pop roots, and probably won’t be chart busters, but they sway in such a smooth melodic manner it could make angels tear up a bit. The tempo on these two tracks has been slowed to a crawl and for once in Britney’s career the strings are the more focal point, rather than the beat. In my opinion, My Baby could be the one-two punch that the album needed, contrasting the underlying synthesized boom and bass found in tracks like If U Seek Amy and Kill The Lights.
Britney’s newest album, Circus, has morphed its own genre, a concoction of Hip-Hop, Trance, R&B, Pop, and Love Ballads…which is rare for an artist who has stuck to the solo Pop career. I’m not going to lie, if you were hoping for an album that was going to stick to the Britney sound we have come to know and love, than this probably isn’t the album you were looking for…in my opinion, it is way better!
