Violence is an act that goes hand in hand with vehemence. It is quite easy to succumb into yet, the bravest soul is that of the person who could oppose it. There are many forms of violence; some can be very evident while, some would not be so revealing. It would take a lot of strength and support of the society as a whole to bring an end to this crude viciousness which is part of human nature.
Men used violence against women in the olden days. Despite the fact that our world is more modern and civilized, it is with regret we have to acknowledge that violence against women is still a far more frequent and common occurrence than what it was before. One fact which is similar with the past and present is that few people stand up and speak out against the violence which is dished out to them. Even more people dare not talk about it as though it is a taboo.
Why is violence used against women and why do most of them keep quiet about it? Naturally, this is a question that arises in many peoples minds. Well, there is no one definite answer to this for different people have different perceptions.
One of the main reasons for this is that some men think they are superior to women, and unfortunately in some corners of the world, the majority of the societys belief is just the same. Unless their way of thinking changes what hope is there for these women? They are violated not only with fists but with words too. There are many things one cannot undo and among them is the deed after it is done and the word after it is said. It is easy to find the culprit and blame him and so it is but we should also consider why and how he became what he is so that we could prevent it from happening. After all “Forewarned is Forearmedâ€. When a child is born, they are born with an invisible aura of innocence. If so then what is it that takes it away from them? Perhaps the way they are brought up or maybe due to negligence in their childhood. Why do some men think they are superior to women and act like usurpers? It could be that they crave for power or else it is a case of a fourteen year old boy who beat a twelve year old, and the twelve year old goes home and beats his six year old sister in order to fulfill his need to be in control.
Do we really know anybody? We think we do but there could be many hidden turmoils in the deep abyss which is our mind. In every society, once a person does what is expected of him, then the rest of us stop questioning. Should we? One never knows what goes on behind closed doors. A man whose behavior is outstandingly good can go home and beat his wife blue and black. However, it is ironic that he could have been the very person who helped an old lady cross the road or even bought lollipops for the neighbors’ children. Meanwhile the threatening looking man who loves annoying the neighbors and everyone thinks bad of can go home and treat his wife with a love so divine. Thus, it is safe to say one should “Never judge a book by its coverâ€.
Most of us could empathize with the women who are violated day in and day out, but there are some of us who would scorn them rather than empathize and justify scorning them by saying why cant they just walk away. In fact I have heard people saying that the women who get violated asked for it and they deserved what they got. What comes to mind when I hear such heartless words is that they clearly do not know what they are talking about. Unless they suffer the same experience how would they know what it is like to be in their shoes, and unless they understand that, it is time to stop judging and start accepting the truth no matter how bleak it looks. Then only would it encourage these women and make them realize they are not alone nor helpless. It is time we give these women a ray of hope that, come tomorrow the sun will definitely shine.
In a nutshell, the main problem with the issue is that society is turning a blind eye to womens suffrage. Their failure to deny or accept it as a problem has resulted these women being utterly devoid of hope and sinking deeper into the murky depths of torture. The time has come to realize that hiding our head in the sand dunces would most certainly not chase away these nightmares. It could be your daughter, sister or even mother who is suffering and I am sure not one of us would wish this kind of ‘a’ miserable, fate for them. So why would we wish it for any other women? Hence, let us try and stop these outrageous acts against women, let us stand up for those who cannot stand up alone, and let us be their voice for those who are bowing down to such suffering before its too late for in the end trying leads you to the bigger picture. True, too much time has already been wasted but as the saying goes “Better late then never†my friends and remember even a lone voice among a crowd can make a difference. You just have to have a little hope and faith in your self, in them and what you believe in. It would not be easy, nothing in life is, but the end result shall be worth it.
