Media Lies

Posted on 04 May 2008 by Bee

It is truly unfortunate that our following children are subjected and lured into believing that these media images, which are so fondly acknowledged, should be imitated. Its a sad truth that immense amounts of our female and male populations are dealing with self esteem issues because they believe they do not fit into what society has deemed perfection. A study found on www.campaignforrealbeauty.com concluded that 6 out of 10 girls asked believed they would be happier if they were thinner. Over half of these girls believe that happiness can come from weight loss. Unreal.

Truly disturbing it is to think that these children and young adults are brain washed to follow these unhealthy attitudes which can lead to self esteem problems and even such drastic results as anorexia, drug use, depression, and in some cases suicide.

Society needs to take the first step to abolish this trash by ignoring it. Stop purchasing the magazines with the stick thin air brushed model on the front, it is not real! People have flaws. The images to be praised are the healthy bodies, the strong minds and the motivated beings. Not the fictitious lies that are thrown in our faces by tabloids. Stop worshipping an unrealistic, narcissistic, degrading cult. Beauty is so much more than physical “perfection” don’t deprive yourself from that discovery.
